CHAPTER GENERAL: POWERS AND DUTIES
The Chapter General elects the Grand Master, the members of the Chancellery of Portugal, the Board of Auditors and the Board presiding to the Chapter General, every ten years (in years ending in zero: i.e. 2010, 2020, etc.) It also approves, ratifies, discusses and makes propositions on all spiritual and temporal matters concerning the government of the Order for each year.
