Medal of Merit: with six different groups: Arts, Letters, Sciences, Teaching, Commerce and Industry, to reward all of those who have had a remarkable performance in those specific areas.

Medal of Loyalty to King and Country: to reward all of those who have fought in combat in the Portuguese Armed Forces, with three degrees of distinction: 1st class for those killed in combat; 2nd class for those wounded in combat; and 3rd class for all the others.

Medal of the Passion of Christ: to reward those who have committed themselves to the defense of Justice, Fraternity and Freedom, in the spirit of Christian Humanism, with three degrees of distinction: 1st class for those who have sacrificed their lives, their assets, career or social status, and for those who have perished or been in prison; 2nd class for those who have sacrificed a large portion of their time and private resources; and 3rd class for those who have distinguished themselves in those specific areas.

Medal of the Most Holy Name of Jesus: to reward those who have done exemplary works of Piety and Charity, and to those who have followed a church life, with three degrees of distinction: 1st class for those who have sacrificed their lives, their freedom, or the total amount of their time and private resources; 2nd class for those who have sacrificed a large portion of their time and private resources; and 3rd class for those who have distinguished themselves in those specific areas.
